The Firstfruits Funding System is a key foundational expression of our new identity in Mennonite Church USA. Biblical in its moorings and practical in its methods, its aim is to help families and congregations support the whole of churchwide work beyond themselves as one unit, composed of many parts.

Firstfruits Funding is a set of principles and relationships rather than a rigid system.

• Giving is centered in the congregation as an act of worship.
• Households, congregations, area conferences and churchwide agencies covenant to give beyond themselves on a percentage basis so that giving increases as capacity increases.
• Giving is regular and predictable rather than lumped at the end of the year.
• Churchwide agencies report regularly to their supporters and find ways to engage them in their ministries.
